Types of Government Procurement
Plan to spend 10-100 hours on a response
Competitive Grants

– (Discretionary funding)
– Most “promoted” grant type
– Seeks many respondents for
the best pool of responses.
– Applicants’ proposals include: project scope, problem/solution, budget, and expected outcomes.

Formula Grants

– (Non-competitive grants)
– Often funded to Cities/States
by the Federal government.
– Funding is determined by
percentage based on disparity
calculations.
– Census participation dictates
grant funding for a City/State.

Pass-Through Grants

Usually center around
programmatic decision-making and administrative support, not goods or services rendered to community.

Continuation Grants

Also known as renewal grants.
These are for organizations
that have already received
Federal funding and need more
funding to complete
the project.
